Women’s health matters at every stage of life. Individual needs can change over time, and getting the right support early can make a real difference to overall wellbeing.
Following the feedback from women who attended our Women’s Health & Wellbeing Event on 9 May 2026 at MyPlace Community Centre, we’ve brought together a selection of helpful resources.
These services offer support with symptoms of menopause, treatment available, weight management, mental wellbeing, and more.

MENOPAUSE

Menopause refers to the stage when menstrual periods have stopped for 12 consecutive months. Perimenopause describes the transition leading up to this point, when hormone levels begin to fluctuate. During this time, many patients experience changes such as irregular periods, hot flushes, mood shifts, or sleep difficulties. This transition commonly begins in the late 30s or early 40s, although the timing varies widely.

Women's Health Concern: Menopause Wellness Hub

Lifestyle choices are the foundation of managing menopause symptoms, whatever treatments you use. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other complementary and alternative treatments can all be very helpful, but the transition to menopause is a good time to review your lifestyle.

Weight gain and menopause

Weight gain during perimenopause and menopause is one of the most common and distressing symptoms women experience. In fact, over half of all women are affected.

Women’s Health Hubs

Women’s Health Hubs across North East London make it easier to access the right care quickly and in a convenient location. They offer a one‑stop service where doctors, nurses and specialist clinicians work together to support a wide range of women’s health needs. YOur GP can refer you to your local hub.

Services include support with:

  • Period problems (heavy, painful or irregular bleeding)
  • Endometriosis, adenomyosis and PCOS
  • Menopause care
  • Pelvic pain and pelvic floor conditions
  • Premenstrual disorders
  • Cervical screening
  • STI testing and treatment
  • Contraception
  • Pre‑conception care
  • Bladder issues or incontinence
  • Breast pain assessment
  • Pessary fitting and removal
